The Guelder Rose

Review by Wheelchair Model Diaries

I went with my family on Sunday to the Guelder Rose on Marine Drive. I was in my wheelchair and was meeting up with a party of 15 other family members. We parked in the clearly marked disabled bay and I went down the wide pathway to the front doors. They were double doors, but just opening one was wide enough for my wheelchair! result!

Once inside there was plenty of space between tables and I easily transferred to a comfortable seat. The décor is very homely, with a family pub atmosphere typical of Marston Pubs.

We had a lovely carvery, which was a “help yourself” vegetables and condiments and choice of meat from the server. There was a choice to access table service, but luckily I was with family who collected my dinner for me. The roast dinner was absolutely lovely and there was plenty of choice with the vegetables!

The sun was shining in Sunny Southport, and the children of the group were happy to find an enclosed play area outside!

The disabled toilet was easily accessible if you have someone to open the doors for you, and they were nice and clean.

We had two birthdays in our family, and were able to take our own cakes to celebrate them! the staff even brought us knives to cut the cake and extra plates for everyone which was really good of them.

9/10 Absolutely Brilliant 🤩
