The Old Duke
Review by Wheelchair Model Diaries
We were invited out with some friends for dinner and a game of bingo at The Old Duke Pub on a Wednesday evening. This family pub is located on Scarisbrick New Road, near Tesco.
This more recent addition to Southport is owned by the Marston pub chain and after our experience at it’s sister pub, The Guelder Rose, we felt reassured that the pub would be easily accessible for my wheelchair.
When we arrived in the car park there was a perfectly placed disabled parking space right near the entrance, and a wide path leading to a large entrance door which my wheelchair fit through without issue.
We had a table reserved, and it was the perfect size and height for me to stay in my wheelchair whilst my partner and friends sat at the table for four.
It was not only Bingo Night, but also Curry Night too! Curry Night offers were £11.25 including a curry of your choice, nan bread, rice, mango chutney and a drink! Amazing value for money.
The disabled toilet facilities were clearly sign posted, and easily accessible and clean and there was ample space to manoeuvre around the venue and the toilet area.
Bingo was being run by assistant manager Si, and he was hilarious! It was £15.00pp for 5 games with cash prizes. We didn’t win anything, but our sides hurt from laughing so much! Absolutely brilliant night!
